"I definitely needed guidance on how to break things down so that I could work towards finding compassion for myself. This breakdown is clever and will be a valuable tool for my mental health kit."

Box Journaling
A journalling workshop that combines creativity with cognitive processing. Transformative healing can take place through journaling when emotions and thoughts are explored together. We use colour and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to process through difficult times so we can flourish and tap into our natural resiliency.
Join JakeJoy as she takes you through a journalling process that has helped her find peace and movement through personal difficulties and challenges faced over the last couple of years.
JakeJoy is a professional artist and teacher and now a counselling therapist in training. She has combined her experiences and skills in order to develop a new journalling approach. "I can say this method has brought the value of journalling back into my life. I used to dread journalling, now I love it!" She wants to share her breakthrough method with you.

Interesting articles you can read before the workshop:

We are working with themes around Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Identifying automatic thoughts. How to put words to our feelings. How seperating feelings and thoughts can bring harmony to our lives. How visualization and imagery can release blocks. Here are a couple of articles you can read before the workshop if you have time.

testimonials:

"I definitely needed guidance on how to break things down so that I could work towards finding compassion for myself. This breakdown is clever and will be a valuable tool for my mental health kit."

"I appreciated the comfort of having others (whom I don't know) also undergoing the same process in this shared space."

"It's a very safe environment. People are free to share to the degree they wish. Very supportive."

"The value is seperating the feels from the thoughts and how useful it is to reframe them. I was surprised to hear there was no formal structure to the workshop, when the box journal process has great structure aimed at organizing the unorganized thoughts."

"I was surprised by the process. I found it hard to distil thoughts and emotions and do the visual part. I thought it would be easier."

"I was surprised by the method - very interesting. I think it will be very useful. Surprised by how quickly it came for me."

. SKETCHBOOK - please bring
Come with a new sketchbook. The larger it is, the more freedom of movement you have. But then you have to care for it. Find a place for it. Not be intimidated by all that space. If it is less than 6"x9" - too small!
Make sure it has thicker pages so you can get them wet and not destroy the paper. 300g or 180lbs is nice, but you can work with a little thinner if you already have a sketchbook.

DRAWING TOOLS - please bring
Pen, pencil, markers or pencil cryons. Or small water colour set if you have it. Ruler. scissors.
We will be drawing and colouring in our journal. Nothing stressful, don't worry. I will guide you through this portion so you feel inspired and relaxed.

You will be guided through an uplifting, healing journalling process that is enjoyable and life altering! You are journalling about personal things - but in a way that is very different than any proces you might have tried before. The idea isn't about sharing personal information with the group. Rather, we are talking about the process. Sharing how the process works for us. Questions we have and trying different approaches.

Yes but, what are we doing??
Drawing boxes. Colouring. Writing. Discovering the expert in ourselves. Finding new ways to see the same thing. Talking. thinking. relaxing. engaging.
