Have You Ever Wanted Constructive Feedback on Your Work?

Breakthrough Individual
Session Series

Previous students have asked if I can offer my workshops online. I can't say I have figured out how to do this in a way that feels fulfilling and successful. Instead I thought of a different format - PLEASE let me know what you think!

I would like to open up 10 spots to clients who are interested in constructive feedback on their creative process or projects. I would provide guidance, feedback and suggestions that should help the artist complete a piece of work or delve deeper into their own journey of creativity and self-discovery.

What felt good, what was challenging and where could you push the work a little more? Have you ever wanted that objective eye that can give you constructive feedback on YOUR work?  This would be the opportunity to schedule in a regular session, move at a pace that is comfortable for you, while being inspired and 'accountable' to someone all at the same time.

It is not about telling you how to paint or how to do your craft, but more about helping you find clarity in your voice and your message. Where could you explore and push further? I will ask you key questions to help guide you towards more clarity in your message. If I can offer tips and techniques, I definitely will.

This is something I often do when working with clients in my workshops, but we don't get an opportunity to see a fully developed project. This is what this space is for. Who will really benefit from this Breakthrough Series:
  1. Beginners who want to know how to get more personal with their projects
  2. Beginners who want to understand what process goes into expressing themselves
  3. Artists who don't feel like they are expressing their own voice in their work
  4. Artists who are facing a creative block and they can't get inspired
  5. Artists who are have started on a project but are not sure if they are on the right track
  6. Artists who are very inspired and they want someone to push them farther
  7. Artists who want to strengthen the message of their projects
  8. Artists looking for feedback on a grant writing project

Why do I think I can help you?

I have been creating art for the last 20 years. I attended University of Alberta, Emily Carr and Alberta College of the Arts in their fine art departments. I am currently studying my Masters in Psychology. I have attended a number of workshops throughout North America and taught in schools to all ages.  I have worked in a number of different mediums and received a number of AFA grants and Calgary Arts grants. I have been self-employed as an artist for the last 12 years and have some experience with public gallery shows and artist run centers. I am also a teacher of English as a second language - I know how to communicate.

Most of all, I care. I listen. I offer constructive feedback with sensitivity. I don't see myself as the expert in your work, rather I am a great guide. This much I have learned about myself.  It is the reason why I am studying to be a psychologist. I can offer clarity without having to be the authority. I understand that helping someone is a two way street. Learning is a collaborative process between the student and the guide.

We all need a little feedback and to be able to talk about our work in a safe, but inspiring environment, can make a big difference in your work. All artists need it no matter how long they have been working at their craft. The collaborative process is like GOLD.

Contact me today if you want to be a part of this first group! I am very curious to see what kind of interest there is out there for this sort of one-on-one session. Please reach out with any questions you have.

Hi Jake,
I am at a block with The a painting that I started months ago and just can't get back to finish. I would love help. I am very interested in this idea. Please let me know where I go from here to sign up.
Thank you,
Shelly.
